316 metal has a greater corrosion resistance than 302 and 304 types. It shows excellent capacity pitting and high temperatures strength over 304. In annealed condition, grade 316 is low magnetic. The 316L stainless steel is an extra low and also carbon modification of Type. Low sensitization properties. Applications of type 316 typically require welding. 316/316L is the most popular austenitic metal utilized in the chemical type industry. In high temperature service, the addition of molybdenum improves the corrosion resistance and bolsters chloride pitting resistance. The technical properties of 316/316L are achieved through handled addition of nitrogen while maintaining a low and also carbon content. Alloy 316/316L is ultimately fitted to applications requiring corrosion and resistance to rust better than Type 304 and it has good elevated temperatures strength.
